At ISUPcenter we test various boards several times a year. This time it’s the Moai 10’6 Paddle Board’s turn. In all our studies, we test the boards on several factors. From quality to manoeuvrability.

What is the Moai 10’6 for Paddle Board?

The Moai 10’6 Paddle board is, as mentioned before, an all-round board. As the name suggests, it can be used for almost any application, including even surfing. Moai is relatively new in the Stand Up Paddle Boarding market but that is not noticeable, they offer quality and complete packages for a competitive price. Moai has a mission, see the quoted mission here:
Our ambition is to create the most innovative and quality water sports products in the industry, with an advanced design, and affordable for the recreational market ~ Moai
There are a total of 5 different Moai SUPS, namely the 9’5″ allround, the 10’6″ allround, the 11″ allround, the 12’4″ allround family (2-person) and finally the 12’6″ touring. Every Moai SUP has the same design, only the features differ. Would you like to know which Moai supboard suits you best? Then view our Moai advice guide. We have tested the complete Moai 10’6 package, although we mainly focus on the board in this review.

Test Factors

Each paddle board is thoroughly tested on the same relevant factors. In this way we can guarantee the value of each review and we can also keep an overview. This way you can also compare reviews with each other. We test the SUPS for the following four factors:
  1. How qualitative the board is
  2. The stiffness of the board
  3. How stable the stand up paddle board is in the water
  4. And finally, we test the maneuverability of the SUP
After testing the above 4 factors, we give each factor a number from 0 to 100. The average of these scores together will make the total score of the board. At the bottom of the page you can find both the final score and the conclusion of this research. See below the results of the four tested factors.

Quality of the Paddle board

The Moai 10’6 surprised us from the very first moment. A double layer Paddle Board of this quality for such a competitive price? We thought that was almost impossible. We have thoroughly checked the boards and except for the normal creases and things like that you will find with every inflatable Paddle board, there was nothing to complain about. So the SUP is amazingly qualitative, well done Moai!

Stiffness of the Paddle board

This supboard is just like its brothers and brothers made of 2 PVC layers and drop stitch. This makes it very sturdy and contains minimal flex (moving the supboard up and down with every paddle stroke). Also the volume of 260 liters and the maximum pressure of 15psi make it a very sturdy board. As with all other Moai SUPS, you will also find elastic on the front of the board with this one. Thanks to the elastic, you can easily take your food and drinks with you in a dry bag. The board’s design is inspired by the monolithic images called Moais. This is also where the brand name comes from. And not only the board is inspired by the images, the Moai inspiration can be found throughout the package.

Stability on the water

Thanks to the high volume, the wide middle base, short length and the short round nose, this board is very stable. And that is also very important with a SUP that is focused on beginners. But this does not mean that you as an advanced supper cannot have fun on this board. We are also advanced suppers and have had a lot of fun with this board. This is mainly due to the simplicity, the board always does exactly what you expect it to do.

Manoeuvrability in the water

The 10’6″ is amazingly manoeuvrable. Just as the wide center base, high volume, short length and short nose provide stability, they also provide maneuverability. Thanks to the maneuverability you can make turns super easy. The good maneuverability is partly due to its stability, because if your board is stable you can turn around without hassle.

Conclusion Moai 9’5 review

The Moai 10’6 is a board that is definitely worth the money. This is mainly due to its price/quality ratio. Moai is known for providing complete and high-quality packages for a competitive price and they have succeeded again this time. And as mentioned before, this is not only the perfect stand up paddle board for beginners but also for advanced players. Everyone can have fun with this all-round stand up paddle board!
